The roots of Above Board can be traced back to at least the fall of 2016, although arguably they could have started long before that.

We want to welcome you to share in a vision we have for our little corner of Cornwall, Ontario.

​

We moved here in the fall of 2016, although Simon had been working here and commuting from Ottawa for a few years prior. We lived in a cozy two-bedroom triplex apartment in the East End of town for our first year here, and spent many evenings sharing food and conversation over board games in our living room or at our kitchen table (even if we often didn’t own enough chairs for all the guests).  As 2017 progressed, we decided it was time to put some roots down here, and possibly even buy a few more chairs. We wanted to extend our living room beyond the walls of our two-bedroom apartment, and after a few months of searching, a rather unique house on Pitt Street caught our attention. We thought, “Hey, great! This space is the perfect extension of our living room, just think of how many more chairs we can fit in here.” More chairs means more people. We hope anyways!  To make a very long story short (feel free to ask us sometime in person), just over 6 months after moving into 627 Pitt, we are finally ready to open our doors, (officially anyways).  We very much enjoy meeting new people, and have found that food and board games provide the perfect excuse to do just that.

 

Our vision for this space is that it will provide you with the opportunity to share food and board games with your friends too!
